We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Medical Lab Assistant to join our team at Garden County Health Services. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting laboratory operations by assisting in the preparation, processing, and analysis of specimens. This position requires a strong emphasis on accuracy, communication, and a commitment to patient care in a fast-paced environment.

• Assist with the collection, processing, and labeling of biological samples, including blood, urine, and tissue specimens.
• Perform and document routine laboratory tests and procedures under the supervision of licensed laboratory personnel.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring that all instruments are calibrated and functioning properly.
• Prepare samples for analysis and transport them to appropriate departments as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory workspace, following safety protocols and infection control guidelines.
• Assist in inventory management of laboratory supplies and reagents, including ordering and restocking as necessary.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory standards, including HIPAA and OSHA guidelines.
• Record and report test results accurately and promptly, communicating any discrepancies or abnormal findings to the supervising staff.
• Provide excellent customer service when interacting with patients and healthcare staff, addressing inquiries and concerns professionally.
• Participate in continuing education and training sessions to enhance laboratory skills and knowledge.

• High school diploma or equivalent;
  Associate's degree or certification in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related field preferred.
• Previous experience in a medical laboratory setting is a plus, but not required.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in basic laboratory techniques and safety protocols.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic medical records (EMR) is desirable.
• Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially and with professionalism.

• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
• Ability to lift and move laboratory supplies and equipment as needed.
• Manual dexterity for handling instruments and samples.

• The position typically involves working in a laboratory environment with exposure to biohazardous materials, chemicals, and laboratory equipment.
