Do you love working outdoors with a lot of variety in your workday? Parks of the St. Lawrence is looking for energetic and enthusiastic individuals who can carry out the duties of Park Ranger. As a Park Ranger you will be an integral part of our team by assisting with the hands‑on day‑to‑day operations of the park, including enforcement, maintenance, health & safety, and supervisory duties.

What

Can I Expect to Do in This Role?
  • Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Parks Operations Manager, lead and coordinate the day‑to‑day park operations of the campground and/or beach, including all administrative and maintenance, and cleaning functions: scheduling, assigning work, monitoring, and auditing performance.
  • Prepare the annual work plan, identify priorities, set targets, and coordinate resources to accomplish specific tasks.
  • Ensure proper procedures are followed, complete reports, and report immediately any potential hazards or needed repairs and take corrective action.
  • Train, supervise and identify performance and misconduct issues for seasonal staff and students, advising management of any issues.
  • Oversee the park enforcement program, respond to emergencies, and ensure staff follow proper security procedures to keep visitors and staff safe.
  • Help coordinate and assist with special events or support other campgrounds as directed by the Parks Management Team.
  • Lead and coordinate all aspects of store concessions and oversee supervision, tracking, and operation of retail and canteen concessions.
  • Embed the SLPC’s equity, diversity, and inclusion principles while interacting with staff and guests.
How Do I Qualify? Mandatory
  • Valid class ‘G’ driver’s licence or equivalent recognized by the Province of Ontario.
  • Ability to be designated as a Provincial Offences Officer and meet certification criteria.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Smart Serve certification.
  • Safe Food Handling certification.
  • Willingness and ability to work variable shifts including evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
Knowledge and Experience
  • Thorough knowledge of park operations and ability to maintain accessibility and functionality of campgrounds, including maintenance, education programming, day‑use, beach, enforcement, and registration.
  • Deep understanding of relevant acts, regulations, policies, and principles related to resource and park management, public health, and safety.
  • Experience with grounds and building maintenance, construction, trail maintenance, and semi‑skilled trades such as carpentry, plumbing, and electrical.
  • Ability to operate and maintain light‑powered equipment and perform minor repairs.
  • Knowledge of store concessions and oversight of retail operations.
  • Ability to foster a safe working environment complying with health and safety legislation.

  • Proven leadership, interpersonal, and team‑building skills.
  • Strong judgment, decision‑making, and critical thinking skills to solve operational challenges.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for reports, correspondence, and customer interaction.
  • Experience leading day‑to‑day operations and ensuring operational needs are met.
  • Administrative and computer skills for managing daily operations and financial transactions.
