Michael Foods, Inc. located in Wakefield, Nebraska is known as the Baseball Capital of Nebraska. Milton G. Waldbaum and Dan Gardner founded our egg–processing business in 1950 here in Wakefield. Our location raises chickens and produces tankers of liquid egg to be consumed by our processing facilities.
Responsibilities- Provides a safe work environment for all personnel.
- Involved in SRMP (Safety & Risk Management Process).
- Completion of all safety audits, scans & inspections.
- Responsible for the general safety of your employees.
- Assists in training of all processing and production personnel in assigned department.
- Assists supervisor in updating training for existing personnel whenever equipment changes are instituted, or new procedures are implemented.
- Assists with Noah feed, light, ventilation program.
- Communicates with personnel and farm maintenance at all times.
- Helps in providing a safe work environment and ensures production complies with food safety standards established by Michael Foods, Inc.
- Works with supervisor to help maintain sanitation standards of the facility.
- Assigns work tasks to department personnel.
- Assists with monthly requirements and audits.
- Assists with safety audits.
- Maintains effective working relationships between members of the department and other areas.
- Follows all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) requirements and safety procedures.
- Follows all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) “washing hands, etc.” throughout the day.
- Follows all Biosecurity programs.
- Monitors production equipment on a continual basis to maintain proper production standards.
- Reports and fills out work orders on maintenance issues as they relate to productivity, food safety, quality and human safety to maintenance.
- Encourages suggestions from employees to improve productivity, quality or control cost of production.
- Maintains accurate downtime records and daily shift reports of all equipment in assigned area.
- Adheres to safe work practices, follows GMP’s, maintains sanitary conditions and ensures that product quality is maintained. Reports to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
- Travels to and works at multiple locations as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
One-year certificate from college or technical school or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
ExperienceRelevant experience in food processing, safety management, and operations management.
Language SkillsAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors or employees of the organization.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

- Ability to consistently follow safety and quality rules and procedures.

- Ability to safely lift 30‑50 lbs at the farms.
- Must be able to work overtime and weekends (once a month) and willing to work an alternate shift.
- Must be able to walk, stand on hard surfaces.
- Must have basic computer skills (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Ability to analyze problems and find solutions.
- Ability to speak, write and understand English.
- Ability to assist the utility house person with mechanical or electrical issues.
- Ability to obtain training in First Aid/CPR, Hot Works, Confined Space, Respiratory and Lock Out Tag Out.
