Location DescriptionWakefield is one of the largest production facilities within Michael Foods. We serve as a flex plant and are able to produce everything from a whole pasteurized egg to liquid, dried, hardboiled and curds.
Position SummaryThis position is responsible for overall equipment cleanliness and sanitation of the assigned department area. The role is a 3rd shift position (10:30 PM – 7:00 AM). It requires compliance with safety work rules, reinforcement of safety as a core value, and adherence to Food Safety & Quality policies and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities- Responsible for overall equipment cleanliness and sanitation of department area.
- Accountable for performing daily, weekly, and monthly master sanitation schedules for department area.
- Responsible for following daily production start-up procedures.
- Cross‑train in sanitation jobs.
- Report any equipment or mechanical problems.
- Assist with team inspections of the area.
- Follow plant goals and duties without prompting.
- Reference the CP Manual for sanitation program questions.
- Understand chemical handling procedures for caustics, acids, quats, bleach, and peracetic acid.
- Conduct effective pre‑op to RTE standards.
- Consistently titrate correctly.
- Replace gaskets.
- Perform daily pre‑op inspections.
- Ensure room compliance with regulations.
- Follow proper SOPs (Standard Operation Procedures).
- Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure product quality.
- Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality, or personnel safety.
- Assume personal responsibility for a safe and healthy workplace for everyone.
- Work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Maintain regulatory compliance at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Prior manufacturing and/or sanitation experience preferred.
- Ability to troubleshoot minor mechanical issues.
- Must obtain and maintain a company pallet jack license; forklift experience preferred.
- Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Write simple correspondence; present information in one‑on‑one and small group settings.
- Add and subtract two‑digit numbers.
- Apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Demonstrate open and honest communication.
- Maintain positive interpersonal relationships and work effectively with others.
- Safely lift and carry 50 lb.
- Work independently or in a team environment as needed.
- Self‑motivated while willing to ask questions and seek direction.
- Display responsible behavior at work.
- Open to change.
- Work in cold, wet, noisy, dusty, and humid environments.
- Work around required cleaning solutions.
- Possess good hand‑eye coordination.
- Stand on hard surfaces most of the shift, ascend/descend stairs, bend, stoop, crouch, grasp, and reach.
