Wakefield is one of the largest production facilities within Michael Foods. We serve as a flex plant and are able to produce everything from a whole pasteurized egg to liquid, dried, hardboiled and curds.
About the RoleThe Dryer Packager position is responsible for proper packaging, sealing, labeling and stacking of finished product containers as well as overall cleanliness and sanitation of dryer areas. This position has the responsibility to comply with safety work rules at all times and to reinforce safety as a core value. It ensures that all policies, procedures and activities related to Food Safety & Quality are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain overall equipment cleanliness and sanitation of dryer areas.
- Manage daily, weekly, and monthly master sanitation schedules.
- Verify final weights of finished products.
- Ensure proper packaging, sealing, labeling, and stacking of finished products.
- Read and comprehend batch records for solids and recon used and batch sequencing.
- Prepare and perform pre-operational inspections.
- Pull lab samples for production.
- Understand and meet the overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) targets.
- Complete and verify all required documentation at the end of each shift.
- Perform hourly case weight checks and take corrective actions as needed.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and collaborate with maintenance personnel.
- Follow start-up and shutdown procedures.
- Operate dryers, including HPP, airflow, and burner controls.
- Monitor packaging crew for quality and address any deficiencies.
- Read and follow POs and SAP report procedures.
- Operate a moisture analyzer and perform metal detector checks.
- Inspect sifter overflow and report issues.
- Run all three dryers and the SSL tote filling operation.
- Print and verify labels from Labelview.
- Communicate effectively during shift hand-offs.
- Follow SOPs and adhere to safe work practices and GMPs.
- Report any conditions that may affect food safety, quality, or personnel safety.
- Work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Ensure regulatory compliance at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Less than high school education.
- Advanced mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with operating dryers and related equipment.
- Strong understanding of OEE targets and production documentation.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
The pay range for this position is $19.00 to $23.50 per hour.
