The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long‑term care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. The LPN demonstrates knowledge of nursing principles for the resident in the relevant clinical setting, practice within the full scope of nursing expertise, and utilizes appropriate age‑ and population‑specific standards for physical and psychosocial needs as per the care plan.

The LPN performs testing to evaluate resident status, provides care as needed, recognizes problems, recommends solutions, and responds effectively in emergent situations.

The LPN ensures the health, comfort, and safety of residents, assists with assessments, administers medications or treatments as ordered, provides technical support to healthcare professionals, documents resident interactions and outcomes, establishes effective working relationships with residents and healthcare providers, communicates clearly, maintains confidentiality, counsels residents and families, develops self‑care programs, and performs related duties as assigned.

• Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as an LPN; associate degree preferred.
• For positions requiring IV therapy, must have a Board‑approved AASPN program with IV therapy or a completed IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing.
• Minimum 400 hours of LPN experience at another facility or supervised clinical experience across the lifespan.
• Current unencumbered LPN license with the State Nursing Board and/or multi‑state licensure privileges.
• Obtain and maintain required competencies and certifications; complete annual CEU and competency training.
