Job Summary

The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as caregiver to residents during scheduled shifts in long-term care. Responsibilities include delivering resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under RN supervision, performing basic health care tasks such as bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, recording vital signs, and providing psychosocial support. The NA assists with transfers, repositioning, walking, and passive exercises, prepares meals and provides a positive dining experience, documents interactions and outcomes, communicates changes to the charge nurse, collects non‑invasive specimens, handles housekeeping and laundry, supports wellness and recreational programs, and may participate in committees and task forces as needed.

Qualifications
  • High school graduate or GED (preferred, not required).
  • Minimum age 16.
  • Preferred prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long‑term care.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required; certification must be obtained within four months of employment or be in the process of obtaining via state-approved training.
  • Annual competency testing and at least 12 hours of continuing education required.
  • Certification/registration with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry where applicable.
  • Potential driver qualification if role functions as a Sanford Category II Driver; valid driver’s license and medical fitness required.
