Position Summary

The Education Director is an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) that directs and tracks education and competency of employees to both clinical and non‑clinical positions at Cherry County Hospital and Clinic (CCH). The Education Director schedules, coordinates and directs educational opportunities and professional development for all employees. The Education Director collaborates with clinical and non‑clinical experts to incorporate best processes into education practicum for employees.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
  • Schedules and coordinates patient educational opportunities.
  • Provides educational leadership to enhance care within the facility.
  • Coordinates with Quality Director to provide staff education to improve quality of care through monthly Quality Assurance.
  • Responsible for assigning and tracking all hospital educational and competency certifications including Health Stream.
  • Instructs or coordinates all required nursing education courses including Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC).
  • Implements educational strategies to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Coordinates in-service training and workshops for appropriate staff.
  • Organizes and facilitates employee annual trainings.
  • Identifies and coordinates educational opportunities outside of the facility.
  • Acts as liaison between hospital and local/higher education schools.
  • Collaborates with Human Resources with onboarding and orientation of newly hired employees.
  • Collaborates with Human Resources, IT Informatics and department heads for training needs.
  • Knowledgeable of and committed to practicing Corporate Compliance policies and procedures.
  • Complies with Cherry County Hospital personnel policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Skills and Abilities

Required
  • Extensive knowledge of accepted standards of nursing care.
  • Knowledge of current nursing procedures and techniques.
  • Ability to create a work environment that promotes efficiency and productivity, satisfaction, growth and development, collaboration, and teamwork.
  • Must be knowledgeable of state and federal confidentiality laws, including but not limited to HIPAA, and be familiar with and follow all policies, procedures and instructions regarding the privacy and security of protected health information applicable to the position.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
  • Must be able to perform standing, bending, and lifting.
  • Repetitive use of hands, arms, and eyes, which could result in strain.
  • Environment requires working in proximity with others in a clean favorable area.
Requirements Minimum

Job Requirements
  • BSN with an accredited school of nursing required.
  • Current active and unencumbered Nebraska or Nurse Compact State Registered Nurse license without restrictions.
  • Current and active certifications in ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP, and TNCC or obtain within six (6) months of hire date.
  • Current Instructor certification in ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP and TNCC or obtain within one (1) year from date of hire.
