Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Long-Term Care

Shift: Night Shift | 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM

Job Summary The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct nursing care to residents in a long-term care setting during the overnight shift. The LPN works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or physician to ensure the safety, comfort, and well-being of residents while delivering high-quality, compassionate care in accordance with facility policies, state regulations, and professional standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to long-term care residents during overnight hours
  • Administer medications and treatments as ordered and in accordance with scope of practice
  • Monitor residents' conditions and report changes to the RN or physician promptly
  • Perform routine assessments, vital signs, and charting accurately and timely
  • Respond to resident needs, emergencies, and call lights during night shift
  • Provide wound care, catheter care, and other skilled nursing procedures as assigned
  • Assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers during overnight hours
  • Supervise and support nursing assistants (STNAs/CNAs) as assigned
  • Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and regulatory standards
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic or paper medical record
  • Provide compassionate care and emotional support to residents and families
Qualifications
  • Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in good standing
  • Previous long-term care or skilled nursing experience preferred
  • Ability to work 12-hour night shifts (6:00 PM – 6:00 AM)
  • Strong clinical, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions overnight
Working Conditions
  • Overnight schedule in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility
  • Requires standing, walking, lifting, and assisting residents as needed
  • May involve exposure to infectious diseases and emergency situations
