SUMMARY OF THE POSITION – Agronomy Applicator/Truck DriverThis position is responsible for the proper application and placement of chemicals and fertilizer and also the transportation of liquid and dry products to the operators, farmers, or other Country partners locations in a safe and careful manner. Other duties will include truck driving and outside operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Assists customers with crop production products and services and provides excellent customer service; provides assistance with stocking merchandise, advertising and inventory control.
- Custom application of fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides.
- Performs scheduled maintenance on assigned application equipment according to manufacturer guidelines.
- Maintains detailed application records as required by law.
- Performs pre‑trip inspections on all vehicles and maintains records as required.
- Demonstrates a basic understanding of all chemicals, fertilizers and their abilities of control.
- Operates equipment to load dry and liquid fertilizer equipment, trailers, and tenders.
- Accurately measures and distributes chemicals according to work orders or purchase orders.
- Cleans, maintains and repairs vehicles and application equipment as qualified, and maintains service records.
- Delivers goods while operating a tractor‑trailer truck.
- Loads and unloads cargo.
- Records amount and type of cargo being delivered.
- Fills up on fuel, cleans truck, and washes windows.
- Reports to a supervisor any incidents encountered on the road.
- Monitors road conditions and watches for traffic congestion.
- Follows all applicable traffic laws.
- Inspects trailer before and after the trip and records any defects found.
- Follows accident procedures if an accident occurs.
- Keeps a log of activities.
- Reports serious mechanical problems to the appropriate personnel.
- Keeps truck and associated equipment clean and in good working order.
- Plans routes using map to deliver goods to clients on time.
- Take special precautions while driving.
- Complies with all local, state and federal laws, codes, and regulations related to handling hazardous materials and sales.
- Maintains a positive attitude that promotes teamwork within the Cooperative and a favorable image of the Cooperative.
- Responsible for maintaining clean facilities and complying with all state and federal regulations pertaining to a safe workplace, housekeeping, and all activities that require regulation compliance.
- Provides excellent customer service by managing difficult or emotional situations; responds promptly to customer needs, resolves questions, complaints and concerns immediately and meets commitments. Effectively communicates by verbal and written means with customers, employees and management.
- Maintains and promotes safety awareness; follows safety policies, procedures and reporting requirements.
- Presents a clean and professional appearance.
- Employee is required to perform all other duties as directed by the supervisor.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSCommercial Driver’s License (Class A with Tanker, Airbrakes and Hazmat endorsements), Commercial Pesticide Applicator Certificate- category 1A.
