Position Summary

As a Member of the Life Safety Services (LSS) team, you will design and develop life‑safety systems including water based, suppression systems, alarm systems, and/or fall protection systems for industrial customers. You will provide technical consultation to internal and external customers and assist other designers with complex industrial projects.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Install life‑safety systems, conduct service calls, and perform system testing and inspections.
  • Provide on‑site emergency troubleshooting and maintain customer life‑safety systems by identifying code issues and discrepancies.
  • Prepare accurate, timely technician worksheets (TWS) and reports.
  • Deliver customer service in the installation of life‑safety systems, including fire alarm and detection, gas detection, foam, dry chemical, clean agent, special hazard, and water‑based systems.
  • Apply basic knowledge of regulatory standards (state, OSHA, NFPA).
  • Assist with shipping, receiving, unloading trucks, consolidating merchandise, and matching purchase orders to sales orders.
Job Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Minimum one certification (manufacturing/state) in a fire‑protection related field.
  • Minimum one year of related experience.
  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Relevant experience in installation, maintenance, repair, and service of life‑safety systems and equipment.
  • Ability to repair and service equipment sold by Vallen.
  • Current motor vehicle license with a good driving record.
  • Commercial driver’s license required if carrying hazardous material loads.
  • Proficient with hand tools.
  • Ability to complete repairs and maintenance expediently and accurately.
  • Assist warehouse personnel with order fulfillment if needed.
  • Maintain minimum productivity of 95% within 60 days.
  • Keep all certifications and licenses current with continuing education.
  • Strong reading, writing, and comprehension of English.
  • Must pass drug and alcohol screening, physical exam, and background check.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • Work varies between indoor and outdoor field sites.
  • Possibility of working in hazardous environments with safety precautions.
  • Ability to work in varying climatic conditions.
  • Regular requirement to talk and hear.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 55 pounds.
  • Ability to climb stairwells up to 15 levels high.
  • Ability to ascend and descend ladders up to 24 feet high.
  • Walk at a normal pace for up to 15 continuous minutes.
  • Work from a standing position for 8–10 hours.
  • Bend, climb, and stoop as needed for equipment access.
  • Pass all test requirements to work offshore (if applicable).
