Software Quality Engineer

The Software Quality Assurance Engineer will provide software quality assurance support to ensure that software-based products meet defined product requirements. We are looking for candidates who have a passion and interest for software quality assurance testing. In this role, you will be responsible for executing manual test cases, capturing clear documentation of results and defects, and providing input on the design of test fixtures and protocols that enable us to measure consumer satisfaction and product reliability for Shark Ninja’s current and future products.

Responsibilities include:

• Assist in testing a variety of Shark Ninja products
• Assist in the development of new testing protocols and test cases based on product requirements and new features
• Document results and classifying issues along with pictures
• Clearly communicate progress, blockers, and discovered issues to the wider manual testing team
• Work cross-functionally to build an understanding of all aspects of the product system
• Provide input/feedback on how to continually improve process within the team
• Help other teams to troubleshoot issues with test units or field returns
• Work as a member of a Software Quality team on a specific project
• Participate in design reviews of product and software requirements
• Participate in project sprints and daily standups to report progress and identify issues
• Participate in Requirements Tracing, Root Cause Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis and Defect Management activities on assigned projects
• Follow defined system testing practices and procedures
• Execute tests and report defects
• Collaborate with Software Quality Assurance Team on testing and defect resolution issues

Required Attributes & Skills:

• BS in Engineering (EE, ME, CS)
• 0-2 years of experience in a quality assurance role
• Ability to work collaboratively with others
• Ability to multitask and problem solve
• An understanding of test automation tools
• An understanding of manual software testing practices
• Solid analytical skills with a strong attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) along with good listening skills
• Flexible in approach
• Comfortable expressing a point of view to challenge conventional thinking
• Self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to lift 20+ lbs
• Working knowledge of Digital Multimeters, Tachometers and general lab equipment

Preferred:

• Experience with robotics (e.g. microcontrollers such as Arduino and Raspberry Pi, sensors such as IR and Lidar)
• Experience working with firmware-based consumer products
• Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
• Knowledge of the Software Testing Life Cycle
• Experience with Defect Tracking Tools
• Experience with Jira or similar and Test Case Management Tools
• Software programming or scripting experience (C++, Python, TTL)
• Familiarity with topics in the CSQE Body of Knowledge
