Job Description ROLE OVERVIEW

The Materials Engineer is a subject‑matter expert in assigned raw material families and is responsible for collaboration with raw materials vendors, leading early‑stage testing of new raw materials, and providing input to the application‑focused R&D engineers on how to optimize performance and cost.

WHAT YOU GET TO DO
  • Partner internally with procurement, manufacturing and product development to set raw materials strategy.
  • Foster relationships with key raw material vendors and lead joint development programs with vendors.
    • Understand vendor capabilities for testing and development.
    • Accelerate development programs by leveraging vendor resources.
  • Evaluate new raw materials.
    • Collaborate with suppliers to understand new raw material technologies.
    • Lead laboratory and pilot‑scale assessment of new raw materials.
    • Generate technical reports on resins evaluated, including commercial qualification plans.
    • Work with others in R&D and manufacturing to support commercial scale‑up of new raw materials.
  • Support product development by identifying opportunities for cost reduction and/or structure simplification.
    • Use pilot‑scale testing to prove feasibility of ideas and move ideas into active programs.
  • Act as the subject‑matter expert in raw materials, teaching others in the organization and building up a raw material database and share globally to improve information flow between regions.

WHAT WE WANT FROM YOU
  • Knowledge of polymer families such as polyethylene, polypropylene, polyamide, and polyester.
  • Understanding of polymer extrusion and structure‑process‑property relationships in polymers.
  • Bachelor Degree in Material Science, Polymer Science, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Graduate work or 1-5 years experience in polymer/film design, testing and/or processing.
  • Travel requirements < 10%.
