Position SummaryThis newly created corporate leadership position is responsible for leading Cost Accounting, as well as the various Accounting compliance functions including Corporate Tax Strategy, Cash Management, Budgeting and Forecasting, Annual Audit Compliance, and Business Analytics. This position also leads the Staff Accountant, Business Analyst, and Sales and Use Tax team. The role requires working in the corporate office a minimum of three days per week and is hybrid within the local Appleton/Oshkosh/Neenah market.
Job Responsibilities- Leads, develops, and coaches the team: provides clear expectations, feedback and recognition; participates in hiring/selection; writes and conducts performance evaluations and progress reports; handles associate relations issues; delivers results in line with key metrics/accountabilities such as associate retention, budget control, and process improvement.
- Manages the month‑end close process; leads the annual audit, working closely with external auditors.
- Manages the Corporate Tax strategy and the Sales and Use tax team.
- Leads the Business Analytics team to drive process improvements and support system implementations/upgrades.
- Responsible for cash management and cash flow forecasting.
- Manages the Cost Accounting team to provide accurate and timely costing and profitability analysis to support business operations.
- Performs cost accounting duties: preparing profitability analysis, ensuring costing accuracy, calculating and monitoring overhead rates, preparing ROI analysis, calculating WIP balances at month end, providing monthly reporting.
- Provides support and analysis for capital investment and development spending, as well as the Fixed Asset Accounting functions.
- Manages expenses in line with department budgets and corporate conditions.
- Carries out responsibilities in a fair, ethical, and non‑discriminatory manner and ensures staff follow same guidelines.
- Enforces and supports all company policies and procedures.
- Fully supports the company's commitment to safety and the environment and strives to maintain a clean, healthy, and safe workplace.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- 15+ years of progressive accounting experience, including cost accounting practice (cost analysis, budgeting, and variance reporting).
- 5+ years of people‑leadership experience.
- Experience with SAP financials preferred.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, especially MS Excel.
- Effective analytical, decision‑making, interval, and communication skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective organizational and time‑management skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills working with a variety of organizational levels.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge of LEAN or other process‑improvement methodologies desirable.
Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment. The work involves the operation of personal computer equipment for extended periods of time.
