Responsibilities
- Create, implement and enforce a clinical staffing plan for direct reports, ensuring sufficient nursing personnel to provide patient care needs in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Provide leadership and direction in accordance with hospital guidelines and nursing program philosophies.
- Identify needs and develop individual training plans for nursing staff, encouraging formal continuing education and evaluating progress.
- Monitor nursing personnel performance continuously and conduct regular performance evaluations for clinical direct reports.
- Collaborate with physicians, multidisciplinary team members and external agencies to ensure efficient discharge plans and accurate history documentation at admission.
- Continuously audit and review performance and documentation of direct reports for consistency and accuracy.
- Assure quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and regulatory standards.
- Maintain continuity among nursing teams through documentation and communication.
- Performs RN duties as needed or when there is a staffing shortage.
- Orient or mentor new nursing staff.
- Crisis prevention experience.
- Ability to manage anger, fear, hostility and violence of others.
- Ability to manage stress appropriately.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in mathematical and analytical skills as they apply to clinical duties.
- Above average organization skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Proficient in applicable software applications.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Active RN certification/License in the state of Wisconsin.
- Bachelor’s Degree required;
Master’s Degree preferred. - CPR, BLS and ACLS certification required.
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience in nursing management.
- Experience in an acute care mental health setting required.
