Job OverviewWe have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Sensory and Consumer Scientist in our consumer products division at our Neenah Technical Center (NTC) in Neenah, WI. You will research consumer perception, behavior, sensory experience, and preferences to enable product developers to differentiate products and optimize user experience.
This role combines technical expertise, strategic thinking, leadership, and entrepreneurship. A passion for connecting consumer perception to measurable attributes is essential.
Responsibilities- Lead a wide range of sensory research, including foundational research, literature reviews, and POV development.
- Design and execute consumer learning studies against critical business questions, managing scoping, proposal, bidding, acquisition, analysis, and reporting.
- Develop study protocols, screeners, questionnaires, and stimuli to maintain consistency and accuracy, liaising with external partners.
- Influence product development and business teams by translating data into insights and communicating findings effectively.
- Leverage AI sensory tools and statistical methods to advance capability.
- Collaborate with product developers to optimize user experiences, identify differentiation, and translate insights into market‑relevant claims.
- Support building new descriptive panels as needed.
- Degree (Master preferred) in Sensory Science, Consumer Science, Psychology, Statistics, or related field with relevant experience.
- Consideration: BS with 5–10 years industry experience in sensory analyses and consumer testing techniques or MS degree with at least 4 years of relevant experience.
- Strong foundational knowledge of sensory study design and analysis.
- Experience applying statistical software to data analysis and insight activities.
- Experience presenting plans and findings to a wide variety of stakeholders.
- More than 5 years of experience in a sensory research role.
- Experience leading groups through complex data analysis and interpretation.
- Experience with consumer product development and insights.
- Deep intellectual curiosity to solve for consumers’ greatest needs.
