The IBP Demand Planning Consultant is responsible for implementing, configuring, and optimizing SAP Integrated Business Planning (IBP) Demand Planning solutions for clients.
The role involves collaborating with business teams to understand demand planning processes, designing future-state models, performing system configuration, integrating data from source systems, and driving successful adoption of the IBP Demand module.
Key Responsibilities
1. Solution Design & Implementation
Lead or support SAP IBP Demand Planning implementations, enhancements, and rollouts
Conduct requirement workshops with business stakeholders to capture forecasting, statistical modeling, and demand review processes
Design process flows, planning layouts, key figures, planning levels, and forecasting models
Configure IBP Demand Planning functionalities including:
Statistical forecasting
Forecast automation
Product lifecycle management (launch/phase-out)
Promotion planning and causal factors
Collaborate with technical teams for CPIDS, SAP DI integration, and data mapping
2. Business Process Expertise
Provide subject matter expertise in end-to-end demand planning processes:
Baseline forecasting
Consensus demand planning
Collaborative demand planning
Sales input and S&OP cycle alignment
Identify process improvement opportunities and design best-practice planning workflows
3. Analytics & Forecasting
Build and optimize statistical forecast models within IBP
Generate and analyze forecast accuracy metrics (MAPE, Bias, etc.)
Recommend improvements based on forecast performance results
4. Stakeholder Management
Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Supply Planning, and Finance teams to drive consensus planning
Conduct user training, UAT sessions, and change management activities
Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders for planning transformation
5. Project Execution
Develop project documentation (BRDs, FS, test scripts, configuration documents)
Support cutover, go-live, and hypercare phases
Adhere to project timelines, quality processes, and delivery standards
