Level 3 Teaching Assistant - Reception

Rotherwood Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join a well-established and supportive Primary School in the Nelson area.

The role is full-time, 5 days per week, supporting pupils within a Reception class, and is due to start in September 2026 on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

  Monday to Friday, 8:15am - 3:35pm (Monday, Tuesday and Friday), 8:15am - 4:20pm (Wednesday), 8:15am - 4:05pm (Thursday), with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break each day
• Daily Rate: £80 - £95 per day (dependent on experience)

• Support teaching and learning within a Reception class.
• Deliver and reinforce phonics interventions and small‑group learning activities.
• Support pupils in developing early reading, writing, communication and numeracy skills.
• Work closely with the class teacher to prepare resources and maintain an engaging learning environment.
• Observe, monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to the class teacher.
• Promote positive behaviour and support pupils' social and emotional development.
• Establish supportive and constructive relationships with pupils, parents and carers.
• Support the use of ICT in learning activities.
• Assist with personal care requirements where necessary and contribute to the safeguarding and wellbeing of all pupils.

• Hold a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
• Hold Level 2 or equivalent qualifications in English/Literacy and Mathematics/Numeracy.
• Have sustained and demonstrable experience delivering phonics support, with a strong understanding of early reading development and phonics schemes used within primary schools.
• Have experience supporting children within an EYFS or Reception setting.
• Have a good understanding of the EYFS Framework and child development.
• Be confident supporting pupils with a range of learning needs and abilities.
• Be committed to the safeguarding and welfare of children and young people.
• Provide details of the latest two references, covering the last five years' work history.
• Possess a current DBS certificate on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one as part of the registration process.
• Be willing to complete a face‑to‑face registration and satisfy all relevant compliance checks.
