SEND Teaching Assistant

Role Overview

Vision for Education is collaborating with a caring and inclusive specialist SEND school in Burnley, Lancashire to appoint a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant. This role will start in September 2026 and run through the 2026/27 academic year, with potential for permanent placement thereafter. An earlier start in June or July 2026 may be available for the right candidate.

• Provide tailored 1:1 support to pupils with a range of additional needs.
• Support children with autism, medical needs, physical disabilities and learning difficulties.
• Adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual pupil requirements.
• Support pupils’ communication, social and emotional development.
• Encourage independence and positive engagement in learning.
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents and external professionals.
• Monitor and record pupil progress where required.
• Provide personal care support when necessary.

• Have experience supporting children or adults with additional needs.
• Have knowledge or experience of supporting individuals with autism, medical needs, physical disabilities or learning disabilities.
• Be patient, caring, and adaptable in your approach.
• Be confident supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis.
• Be willing to undertake personal care duties if required.
• Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
• Demonstrate a commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of young people.
