Mechanical Design Engineer – Bulk Material Handling (Bespoke Systems)

We’re supporting a fast-growing engineering group that has recently expanded through acquisition. As part of this growth, they’re looking to appoint a Mechanical Design Engineer to work on a range of bespoke bulk-handling and process-equipment projects for major food manufacturers.

All design engineers are based in the same office, creating a supportive environment where you can easily share ideas, get input, and collaborate with experienced colleagues while working on your own projects.

Project work typically involves:

* Dry and wet ingredient handling systems

* Pneumatic conveying solutions

* Process-equipment integration

* Automated material handling and robotics

* Upgrades, refurbishments and service-led engineering tasks

What they’re looking for:

* A strong background in mechanical design, ideally with experience in material or liquid handling, process equipment, or chemical separation

* Solid 3D CAD capability, ideally using Autodesk Inventor

* Ability to deliver bespoke engineered solutions from concept through to manufacture

* Someone confident working in a project-led environment and collaborating closely with engineering and production teams

* While experienced designers are preferred, capable mid-level engineers with relevant project exposure are also encouraged to apply

This role is primarily on-site in Nelson, benefiting from excellent motorway access. Some flexibility may be possible where appropriate.
