Design Assistant (Renewable Energy Systems) The Opportunity

We are working with a specialist contractor within the renewable energy sector, delivering innovative heating and cooling solutions across the UK.

The business focuses on the design and installation of heat pump systems, including:

• Ground Source Heat Pumps
• Water Source Heat Pumps
• Air Source Heat Pumps

Due to continued growth, they are now looking to appoint a Junior Design Assistant to support their technical design team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the early stages of their career to gain hands‑on experience within a fast‑growing and future‑focused industry.

Working alongside experienced engineers and designers, you will support the development of technical designs and project documentation for renewable energy systems.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assisting with the preparation of design drawings and layouts
• Supporting the design of heat pump and mechanical systems
• Producing technical documentation and project information
• Liaising with engineers, project managers, and installation teams
• Supporting project coordination from design through to delivery
• Ensuring designs comply with relevant standards and specifications
• Updating drawings and documentation as projects progress

• A genuine interest in renewable energy and sustainability
• Some exposure to design, engineering, or construction environments (e.g. placement, internship, or junior role)
• Basic understanding of CAD software (AutoCAD or similar desirable)
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
• Good communication and organisational skills
• Proactive team player with a positive attitude

• Salary up to £32,000 per annum
