Semi-Skilled Mechanical Engineer

Location:

Burnley
Salary: £30,000 per annum

Working Hours:

Monday to Friday, 4.5 days per week
Job Type: Permanent

We are currently looking for a Semi-Skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team based in Burnley.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a mechanically minded individual looking to develop their skills and build a long-term career within a busy engineering environment.

The Role

As a Semi-Skilled Mechanical Engineer, you will be involved in a range of mechanical engineering tasks, supporting the wider engineering team to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

The role would suit someone with hands‑on mechanical experience who is keen to develop their technical abilities and take on further responsibility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out mechanical assembly, fitting and engineering tasks
  • Assist with the maintenance, repair and modification of machinery and equipment
  • Read and work from basic engineering drawings and specifications
  • Use a range of hand and workshop tools safely and effectively
  • Identify and resolve basic mechanical faults
  • Work as part of a team to complete engineering projects and tasks
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment
  • Follow company health and safety procedures at all times
About You

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has previous experience in a mechanical engineering or workshop environment
  • Has a practical, hands‑on approach to engineering
  • Is comfortable using hand and workshop tools
  • Can read and understand basic engineering drawings
  • Is reliable, hardworking and keen to learn
  • Works well independently and as part of a team
  • Takes pride in producing high-quality work

Relevant qualifications such as NVQ, City & Guilds, or an engineering apprenticeship would be advantageous, but practical experience and the right attitude are equally important.
