Due to retirement, we have a rare opportunity for a motivated plant operator to join our tight knit Bitumen team based in Nelson. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced plant operator. You will be someone who is practical and has a mechanical minded hands‑on approach, coupled with an understanding of bitumen plant manufacturing and its operation.

What you’ll bring to the table
  • Full Class 1 NZ Drivers Licence essential – WTR and/or a F Endorsement would be an advantage
  • General plant operation knowledge and basic trouble‑shooting ability
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, some night and weekend work will be required
  • A mechanical or engineering background would be an advantage
  • Ability to work effectively in a small team
  • Experience or exposure to civil plant operations
    - Asphalt Plant or Bitumen Plant would be a bonus but not essential, full training will be provided
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (customer facing)
  • An unwavering commitment towards living safely with a safety record to match.
  • Follow instructions, plans and schedules independently of direct oversight
Role Accountabilities
  • Bitumen/Emulsion plant operation
  • Plant and equipment maintenance and cleaning
  • Ensure adequate production to meet customer demands
  • Follow requirements set out by supervisor or Department Manager
  • Ensure that appropriate inspection, measuring and test equipment is used to demonstrate conformance to requirements
