Grade C Security Officer Positions
Typical positions include security guards, patrol officers, and gatehouse officers.
Required Qualifications and Skills- Minimum Grade 10;
Grade 12 (Matric) preferred by most employers. - PSIRA Grade C registration (mandatory; obtained through accredited training centers, typically 5–7 days, costing ZAR 500–1,500). Training covers access control, patrolling, and basic security procedures.
- Basic Security Officer Training (e.g., first aid, fire safety, conflict management) often provided post‑hire.
- No prior work experience required; volunteer work, community patrolling, or informal security experience strengthens applications.
- Grade C officers earn ZAR 4,500–7,000 per month (ZAR 54,000–84,000 per year) with potential overtime premiums.
- Some companies offer up to ZAR 9,000 per month for 12‑month contracts.
