Position: Postdoc (m/f/d) supporting teaching and research at the Chair of Genetics of Crop Diversity
Location: Giessen

Support us from 01.10.2026 in part-time (65%) as a Postdoc (m/f/d) supporting teaching and research at the Chair of Genetics of Crop Diversity.

In accordance with § 2 WissZeitVG and § 72 HessHG, the position is to be filled on a fixed-term basis at the professorship of Genetics of Crop Diversity, Department of Agronomy and Plant Breeding I at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Nutritional Sciences and Environmental Management with the opportunity for own academic qualification. The salary is in accordance with the collective labour agreement of the State of Hessen (E 13 TV-H).

As long as the maximum permissible duration of a fixed-term contract is not exceeded, you will be employed for an initial period of 3 years. An extension for up to another 3 years is possible under the above-mentioned condition.

Your tasks at a glance
  • Opportunity for own academic and didactic qualification, activities in research and teaching according to § 72 HessHG
  • Taking on teaching duties according to the teaching obligation ordinance of the state of Hessen; all courses will be conducted in English
  • Scientific oversight and management of the planned LC–MS system for plant metabolomics studies, including data analysis
  • Support for ongoing publication projects
  • Participation in academic self-governance and administrative duties
Your qualifications and competences
  • Completed university degree and a relevant doctoral degree (PhD) in Agricultural Sciences or a related field
  • In-depth knowledge of plant-related ‚Omics‘-datasets, molecular biology, and plant genetics
  • Proven experience in managing and organizing large-scale sample sets in a laboratory setting
  • Basic bioinformatics skills and experience working with HPC clusters
  • Proven scientific writing skills demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications
  • Excellent command of Englisch, both written and spoken
  • Strong intercultural awareness and openness
