Join the interdisciplinary team of Avans Master of Arts as a Tutor Situated Design, motivating students to critically engage with contemporary design practices and their social, cultural, and environmental contexts.
In this position you will be part of an interdisciplinary team and teach within the programme Master of Arts in Fine Art & Design.
As a Tutor Situated Design, you will guide and inspire master’s students in developing critical, context-driven design practices that respond to complex social, cultural, ecological, and technological challenges. You will design and deliver engaging teaching activities, supervise student research projects, and assess outcomes at master’s level, while fostering an interdisciplinary and collaborative learning environment. Additionally, you will be involved in curriculum development, research and knowledge exchange within the field of contemporary design, and mentor students as emerging creative professionals.

Benefits A monthly salary of € 4,632 to € 6,677 gross for a full‑time appointment (scale 11 collective labour agreement for higher professional education).
An end‑of‑year bonus, approximately equal to a thirteenth month.
An appointment for 1 year, with possible extension based on performance.

Qualifications Master’s degree, preferably PhD in a related subject.
Background in design research, critical design, or socially engaged design practices; familiarity with context‑based and interdisciplinary approaches.
Recent experience of higher education teaching and educational & administrative management.
Strong experience in contemporary design practices, connecting theory and practice; capable of guiding students in situated, research‑driven methodologies.
Excellent verbal and written English skills.
International orientation and network to develop new opportunities within the master programme.
