Process Engineering Manager – Bachelor’s/Master’s – 40 hours – Almere

Build the production processes of a new factory

Imagine entering an empty production facility and helping transform it into a fully operational manufacturing site.

For an international organisation within the health and nutrition industry, we are looking for an experienced Process Engineering Manager. In this role, you will lead the development, implementation and start-up of production processes for a strategic manufacturing investment in Almere.

You will help create efficient, safe and scalable production capabilities and ensure that new lines are technically sound, compliant and ready for operational use.

Your role
As Process Engineering Manager, you will be part of the Engineering and Operations organisation and play a leading role within multidisciplinary project teams.

You will coordinate all process‑related activities, from feasibility studies and concept development through detailed design, installation, commissioning, validation and handover to Operations. You will work closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Safety, Procurement, external contractors and equipment suppliers.

Your scope includes process design, equipment integration, process parameters, utilities, hygienic design and the technologies required for handling, dosing, mixing, conveying and packaging products.

Your responsibilities

Lead process‑engineering activities within strategic investment projects;

Develop and optimise manufacturing processes for new production lines;

Define process parameters, workflows and performance indicators;

Manage process scope, planning, budgets, risks and technical deliverables;

Support equipment selection and ensure effective integration into the production process;

Coordinate internal stakeholders, engineering partners, contractors and equipment suppliers;

Oversee installation, commissioning, validation, qualification and start‑up activities;

Ensure compliance with company standards, safety requirements and local regulations;

Apply hygienic‑design, contamination‑control and cleanroom principles where required;

Ensure utilities are correctly integrated into equipment and production processes;

Identify technical and operational risks and implement suitable mitigation measures;

Drive process improvement, standardisation and continuous‑improvement initiatives;

Support a structured handover to Operations and ensure production readiness.

What you bring
You combine technical process knowledge with ownership, structure and strong stakeholder management. You can lead complex engineering subjects and influence multidisciplinary teams, even without direct authority.

A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial or Process Engineering, or a related discipline;

At least 6–10 years of experience in process engineering within manufacturing or industrial environments;

Proven experience delivering capital projects from design through implementation, commissioning and start‑up;

Strong knowledge of production processes, process optimisation and industrial manufacturing equipment;

Experience with in FMCG, food, pharmaceutical, life sciences or another regulated industry;

Experience with aseptic or pharmaceutical manufacturing processes is highly desirable;

Knowledge of powder‑processing technologies, including handling, dosing, mixing, conveying or packaging;

Familiarity with hygienic design, cleanroom requirements and contamination control;

A solid understanding of utilities and their integration into production processes;

Knowledge of safety, health and environmental standards and engineering compliance;

Financial awareness, including budget tracking and cost control;

Experience working with international, cross‑functional teams and external suppliers;

Strong analytical, structured and problem‑solving skills;

Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management capabilities;

Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

Experience with SAP and project‑management tools is considered an advantage.
