Job Description & How to Apply Below
Get explosion bonded clad approved where the decision is made.
Fabricators buy our clad plate, but an owner or EPC materials engineer decides which manufacturers a project may use and which cladding process the specification allows. Shockwave is hiring the person who wins that decision: a place on the approved vendor lists of end users and EPC contractors, and explosion bonded clad accepted in their specifications.
About Shockwave
Shockwave Metalworking Technologies manufactures explosion bonded clad plates and bimetallic transition joints for pressure vessels, heat exchangers and process equipment in the petrochemical, cryogenic, marine and industrial gas industries. We supply fabricators and EPC contractors worldwide from Schijf, the Netherlands.
What you will do
Build and own the approval roadmap: which end users, licensors and EPC contractors matter per market, in what order, and who decides
Run prequalification from first contact to listing: vendor registration, technical dossiers, test programmes and plant audits in Schijf
Make the technical case for explosion bonded clad against roll bonded clad and weld overlay with materials, corrosion, welding and static equipment engineers
Review owner and EPC clad specifications and propose defensible wording where explosion bonding is excluded or disadvantaged
Obtain engineering approval for our cryogenic transition joints at the industrial gas companies
Track projects from FEED onwards so Shockwave is on the vendor list before the fabricator inquiry goes out
Present at EPC and end user offices, exhibitions and conferences
What you bring
Degree in materials science, metallurgy, welding or mechanical engineering, or equivalent experience
At least five years in pressure equipment, clad or corrosion resistant alloy products, heat exchangers or process plant materials
Experience on one side of the approval table: as a materials, static equipment or vendor quality engineer at an EPC contractor or operator, or as the person who obtained approvals for a manufacturer
An existing network among the engineers and vendor quality teams who decide
Working knowledge of ASME Section II and VIII, EN 13445 and PED, EN 10204, NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 and owner specifications for clad material
Fluent English and willingness to travel internationally
What we offer
A senior role with direct impact: every approval you obtain opens a market that was closed to us
A direct line to the CEO, short decisions and the freedom to build the approval function your way
A specialised technology and a long-term growth ambition
