Do you want to make a real difference in someone's life as a buddy?

Participate! Our clients want that too. As a buddy you help someone to get a grip on life again by doing fun things together and 'just' being there.

As a buddy at Iris Zorg, the Hoogeland location in Beekbergen, you can really make a difference in the lives of our clients. They often live in a small world with few family or friends. Loneliness is lurking. But as a buddy you can break through this and let people participate again. Simply by doing fun things together and 'being there'.

You meet up about once a week. You discuss together what you are going to do, for example walking, cycling or doing puzzles. Some clients want to join a (sports) club or visit a community center, but are afraid to take the first step. Then you can support as a buddy and you go together. You can also help with familiarizing yourself with a laptop or with learning Dutch.

Others just want to have a chat and drink coffee together. In short, plenty of options!

You are open to life. You can empathize with others without judgment. You are reliable and you are able to establish a nice contact with our clients. If necessary, you can also be clear and indicate your limits. You know how to activate and enthuse someone in a natural way. You are available at least one half day per week.

Of course you also get a lot in return for your enthusiastic efforts. You meet interesting people, each with their own special story. You are of great importance to their recovery. This way you experience how fun and useful it is to dedicate yourself to our clients. But we also ensure that you can perform your volunteer work properly. We offer guidance, training, insurance, clear agreements laid down in a volunteer agreement and a volunteer allowance.

After your registration there will be an introductory meeting where we would like to hear from you who you are, what your hobbies are and what makes you happy. We also tell you about Iris Zorg, the Hoogeland location and about the client. If there is a match, we arrange a first meeting.

Iris Zorg is there for young and old and for all layers of the population. We are there for people who have problems in the field of finances, relationships, work or (mental) health. Usually in combination with an addiction and/or (imminent) homelessness. We support clients towards recovery from integral addiction treatment and social counseling. We can use your help as a volunteer with that.

As a volunteer at Iris Zorg you make meaningful contact with people with a vulnerable and special background. We see the people behind the addiction, homelessness and other problems. Everyone has their own story. Do you want to support people to get a better grip on their lives? Are you the bridge to the outside world for them, so that they can participate in society again?
