Location: Andijk

In Andijk, between spinach fields and greenhouses, you contribute daily to the development of new, robust spinach varieties. By continuously evolving new diseases and resistances, innovation in breeding remains essential. As an Assistant Breeder, you play a key role. You support KWS Vegetables' breeding program in Andijk and ensure that trials, crossings, and seed multiplication run smoothly.

Each season differs. In spring and summer you work mostly in the greenhouse and on the field in Andijk, while autumn and winter involve more administration, analysis and preparation of new trials. You receive considerable freedom and responsibility within a young, independent, and accessible team that is a market leader in spinach breeding.

Responsibilities
  • Organize sowing and planting tasks for breeding trials in Andijk
  • Carry out crossings and supervise seed harvest, cleaning and administration
  • Monitor plant health and gather data on growth and flowering
  • Coordinate practical work with greenhouse and farm team
  • Record results, enter data and prepare new trials
Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree in plant sciences or a comparable agricultural discipline
  • Practical experience within a breeding company or via a relevant internship
  • Good command of the Dutch language and a valid driver’s license
  • A proactive and independent work attitude with attention to detail
