Job Description:

The main goal of this role is to manage the technical aspects of discovery projects and genetic resources within the Allium and Brassica Prebreeding Team. Under the guidance of the Prebreeder, you ensure that all activities align with the Prebreeding framework. You work closely with research, breeding, and operational teams in both Allium and Brassica crops. These teams are located across several sites in the Netherlands and abroad, requiring strong collaboration and coordination.

The general mission of the position holder is to carry out the management and multiplication of the genetic material necessary for the development of the pre-breeding activity within the framework of research projects. He/she is responsible for coordination of the various technical works related to the projects. He/she plans, organizes and implements the activities in compliance with safety instructions. He/she ensures the smooth execution of the projects with the support of operations and by interacting with other research teams (breeding, phytopathology, cell biology, digital phenotyping), and other departments (IT, packaging and shipping departments).

He/she ensures the continuous improvement of the processes and methods in place and the implementation of new activities. He/she plans and reports part of the genetic resources work and scientific projects under the supervision of the Prebreeder.

• Knowledge in agronomy, plant genetics and breeding, plant physiology and, related plant sciences (phytopathology and molecular biology). Hands‑on experience in a breeding program is appreciated.
• Master’s in Agronomy and/or Plant Science related domain.
• English (Fluent) and Dutch.
• Knowledge of conducting experimental trials both in the greenhouse and open field. Mastery of cultivation techniques in plant production.
• Proven analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills are necessary.
• Scientific precision and critical thinking.
• Ability to design experiment, analyse results, synthesize and report.
• Experience with project management.
• General computer skills: MS Office, SharePoint. Ability to quickly adapt to specific company IT systems: databases, data processing, and analysis software.
• Basic knowledge of statistics.
• Interest in a dynamic work environment where daily activity changes according to season.
• Team spirit and good communication skills. Open‑mindedness.
• Enthusiasm for crop development, scoring and interpreting of the results.
• Motivation to learn and constantly improve processes and tools.
• Well organized, methodical, and able to multitask.
• Able to endure sometimes harsh weather conditions, as well as seasonal peaks of activities (including travel domestically and internationally).
• Flexible, convincing, and entrepreneurial attitude.
