Location: Hoogkarspel
Volunteer Parenting Support
Home-Start offers low‑threshold parenting support to parents of children aged 0–18 years. Volunteers visit families once a week to provide listening, support and practical help based on their own parenting experience.
Responsibilities- Meet with a family once a week for 2 – 4 hours during the year.
- Listen to parents’ concerns and discuss solutions together.
- Highlight strengths and build parent confidence.
- Encourage families to use local resources and prevent social isolation.
- Keep a brief log of the week’s activities and share insights at volunteer meetings.
- Experience as a parent or educator.
- Good listening and communication skills.
- Ability to provide non‑judgmental, equal support.
- Completion of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
- Training and mentoring from a Home‑Start coordinator.
- Theme and return meetings to share experiences with other volunteers.
- Reimbursement of reasonable costs incurred during visits.
- Flexible commitment of 2 – 4 hours per week.
- Opportunity to develop personal and professional skills.
