R&D Engineer laser technologies; F​/M​/D

About the Position

The “Laser Tech.” Group of the “Instrumentation” Business Unit, based in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, is looking for an R&D Engineer for laser technologies.

With your extensive knowledge of laser technologies, ranging from mode-locked to stabilized continuous-wave lasers based on fiber, solid-state and semi-conductor technologies, you will significantly contribute to the development of industrial and academic projects in the field of optical atomic clocks, space technologies and laser-based instrumentation.

• Execute technical tasks vital to the success of our diverse projects
• Build, optimize and characterize laser sources, mode-locked lasers, optical frequency combs, stabilized lasers and optical amplifiers
• Lead the assembly and characterization of laser-based prototypes
• Research and develop new laser architectures
• Take part in the execution of laser-based metrology projects

You are a motivated Engineer with either a MS or a Ph.D. in Physics or a relevant domain with proven experience in a similar field. Working in a multidisciplinary team has been one of your motivations. In addition, you bring the following knowledge:

• Lasers and laser-based systems
• Laser characterization
• Laser stabilization and metrology
• Atomic clocks
• Nonlinear optics
• Time & frequency metrology
• Optical spectroscopy

• Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact constructively with our colleagues and partners
• Fluency in English, French or German would be an asset
