Our client is looking for a Director of Music Ministry to develop and lead the musical elements of our worship services in consultation with the pastor and other team members. The ideal candidate is an experienced musician (ability to play an organ is a plus) who is comfortable with contemporary and traditional musical styles.
Preference is for someone experienced directing choirs and praise teams. Strong organizational and people skills are essential to success. The position requires weekend and evening time commitments.
Key Responsibilities- In collaboration with the pastor, plan worship services that align with the church calendar and support the message of the day.
- Provide worship leadership for the church's contemporary service.
- Select biblically sound hymns and songs and lead music for both traditional and contemporary worship services.
- Arrange and/or provide musical accompaniment for services (band led, organ, piano).
- Prepare and direct music for the church's events and services, on and off site, as well as special services such as Holy Week, Christmas, Advent, Lent, Memorials, etc.
- Recruit, motivate and supervise musical teams and ensembles for services including the Saturday praise team and Sunday choir.
- Foster a spirit of excellence, spiritual growth and community among all music ministry participants.
- Provide music leadership and tech support for the church's Preschool, Sunday School and children/youth ministries as needed.
- Oversee the technical aspects of worship, including sound, live streaming and projection for all worship services.
- Manage music licensing and copyright subscriptions.
- Support music for Vacation Bible School and other internal events.
- Serve as liaison for musical collaboration with other LCMS churches or community events.
- A growing and active Christian faith; alignment with Lutheran theology and the church's mission.
- Strong musical proficiency on piano; ability to play organ preferred.
- Experience directing both traditional choirs and contemporary worship teams.
- Knowledge of sacred music across styles and eras, from classic hymns to modern worship.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire volunteers of various skill levels.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn worship technology (sound boards, live streaming, etc.).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a church music setting (preferred).
