We are seeking a Safety and Health (S&H) professional to join our team at Nevada Gold Mines and contribute to a safe, legal, and sustainable mining operation.

Job Description

As an S&H Specialist, you will acclimate to our work environment and perform duties related to the Occupational Health and Safety Profession, working closely with site management and senior S&H professionals to control risks and implement safety solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Act as a technical advisor and mentor to the site management team while working with senior S&H professionals to develop and implement strategies to control immediate risks in the workplace and find solutions to complex S&H problems.
  • Participate in internal S&H inspections and audits to identify conditions, behaviors, corrective action implementation/compliance, and training-related needs.
  • Maintain a weekly to monthly overview plan for S&H functions related to assigned area or division.
  • Work with all employees and staff to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and company S&H standards and systems.
  • Accompany division management with MSHA and state inspectors during inspections.
  • Assist with health testing and industrial hygiene activities as needed.
  • Serve as a resource or facilitator for incident investigations using Tap Root, ICAM, 5 Why, or Fishbone analysis to ensure accurate investigations and root cause determination. Play a meaningful role in developing effective corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and data entry in databases.
  • Assist in team‑based and formal risk assessments by facilitating, developing, and monitoring action plans.
  • Maintain and sustain active involvement with the division safety team and committees.
  • Provide mentorship and support to all employees.
  • Participate actively in toolbox meetings, safety meetings, and other training sessions.
  • Develop and instruct MSHA topics during new hire orientation, annual refresher training, and business partner hazard training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree and at least six (6) years’ experience in industry is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s safety degree and at least three (3) years’ experience is preferred.
  • Experience in at least two divisions within mining (minimum one year per division) is preferred.
  • Five to ten years’ experience in industry with proven leadership in safety is preferred.
