Mine Geologist
Reports to the Senior Geologist. The Mine Geologist is responsible for all aspects of in-pit geologic technical support to the Mine Technical Services team, Mine Operations, and Processing Plants. Will proactively ensure safe blast hole and surface mapping of alteration, lithology, mineralogy, and structural data support to technical services and mine operations. Oversight of blasthole sampling and ore control.
Responsibilities- Perform pit mapping and geologic mapping of blast hole cuttings and highwalls.
- Responsible for maintaining production database.
- Develop and maintain ore control procedures as needed.
- Oversight on ore control designs to be surveyed and placed in the pit.
- Work closely with Metallurgy to make sure material possesses leachable quality as crusher feed or run of mine material.
- Interacts with mine operations and engineering personnel on mining areas daily.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or other related field. Required.
- 0 to 5 years of experience in Geology.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Program skills including experience using Microsoft Office, Vulcan, Arc GIS or other relevant software.
- Strong technical skills in a wide range of geology, engineering, and geotechnical concepts and principles.
- Excellent safety record is required.
- Strong computer skills are required.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds preferred.
- Ability to perform essential functions of the position is required.
This position will be based at the Florida Canyon mine site near Winnemucca, Nevada.
