The Department provides financial support to local communities and professional and technical services (including training and technical assistance) to community leaders in the areas of governance, housing, and property tax administration. Work Location and TravelThis is a hybrid position that is assigned to the Denver or Grand Junction office, based on home address. The employee will be required to work from the office as needed and travel to provide technical guidance or course instruction, as needed.
Role SummaryUnder the mission of DOLA, The Division of Property Taxation, and under the supervision of higher‑level Property Tax Specialists, the position actively participates in the development of policy manuals, reappraisal programs, technical assistance/consulting, and producing appraisal curricula and training for county assessors and their staffs. Work is reviewed for technical accuracy and adequacy of professional judgement. The position functions as one of the ad valorem valuation specialists in the Division.
Key Responsibilities Research and Analysis- Researches legal and appraisal issues that generally have a broad impact throughout the state, including reviewing statutes, court decisions, and appraisal theory.
- Plans, organizes, and develops the research procedures under guidance of higher‑level Property Tax Specialists. Summarises findings for presentation to higher‑level specialists and possibly to other interested parties.
- Focuses on ad valorem valuation of various property types and appraisal methodologies, emphasizing vacant land present worth, agricultural properties, education, court case management, course instruction, and time trending.
- Researches and recommends new and revised appraisal curricula, course outlines, materials, examples, and examinations for appraisal continuing education as well as other courses, workshops, seminars and känner for assessors and their staff.
