PURPOSE/FUNCTION/SUMMARY (TRAINING NEEDS)
Design, develop and optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness within a machining production environment. Responsible for the fixturing, programming, and planning of the CNC machines in the shop. Provide technical expertise, diagnostics, and problem resolutions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Liaison between engineering and the shop floor.
- Analyze existing production processes and design or implement improvements to increase efficiency, speed, and profit margins.
- Develop and implement quality control measures to ensure products meet specifications and desired quality standards.
- Diagnose and resolve production issues, including equipment malfunctions and human error.
- Manage production lines, machinery, equipment, and the overall production workflow to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Develop and ensure adherence to safety protocols, regulations, and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
- Train, supervise, and manage production staff, and coordinate with engineering and production teams.
- Create and maintain detailed production documentation, such as SOPs and process flowcharts.
- Implement cost‑saving measures and work within budgetary plans without compromising quality.
- Stay informed about new trends, technologies, and best practices in the engineering and production fields.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
REQUIRED
- Education/Training:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, or related field. - Experience/
Skills:
Ten years manufacturing operations with five years at a managerial level of responsibility. Must possess proven skills and abilities in the areas of leadership, planning, manufacturing systems and processes, continuous improvement in manufacturing techniques, employee development and strategic as well as functional problem analysis and resolution. Strong customer orientation. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills a must. Experience with milling and lathes machines is desired.
Horizontal machining experience along with CNC programming knowledge is a must.
