The Nurse Practitioner (NP) – Clinics provides direct patient care within state and scope of practice guidelines at assigned Barton Health Care System outpatient clinic facilities. The NP works independently as well as collaboratively with other providers to provide patient assessment and diagnosis, formulate treatment plans, prescribe medications, order tests, interpret test results, provide patient education, prepare medical records and refer patients in accordance with statutes, regulations and protocols regulating the profession.
The NP utilizes appropriate authorization protocols when performing medical functions. The NP demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to identify and meet the individualized needs of the population served.
- Education:
Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner training program Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nurse Practice (DNP). - Experience:
Minimum two years of recent outpatient clinic experience as an NP preferred. - Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Computer literacy in common office applications; knowledge of electronic medical record (EMR) database or equivalent required;
Epic experience preferred; excellent communication and customer service skills, flexible, and strong sense of teamwork; ability to effectively communicate in English; bilingual abilities preferred. - Certifications/Licensure:
Current National Certification as a Nurse Practitioner through the National Certification Corporation (NCC), American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANPCB); licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in applicable home location (California or Nevada) or ability to obtain prior to start date; licensed as an RN in applicable state prior to start date; current CPR/BLS certification by the American Heart Association (BLS for the Healthcare Provider);
Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). Examiner Certificate required within 6 months of starting; any additional licenses and certifications as required per Med Staff bylaws and applicable state laws (CA and/or NV).
Requires walking, standing, sitting, talking or hearing; use of hands to operate tools; occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients.
Working ConditionsContact with patients and guests under a wide variety of circumstances; regularly exposed to risk of blood borne diseases, infections, and contagious diseases; exposure to hazardous anesthetic agents, body fluids, waste, flammable and explosive gases; subject to varying and unpredictable situations, including handling of emergency or crisis situations; pressure due to irregular hours, frequent interruptions, and stressful situations; occasional travel to various health system locations.
