The Diesel Mechanic will primarily work with their team to repair and maintain tractors and trailers used to transport limestone and other products at Savage's facilities in Elko, NV. This is a night shift position.
Responsibilities- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records with the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Collaborate with Team Members outside of the department to ensure overall operational success.
- Perform other general maintenance duties as required.
- Two to three years of Experience as a Semi-Truck Fleet Mechanic; experience with a variety of trucks is a plus.
- Expertise in repairing suspensions, rear ends, transmissions, air brake systems, and minor engine work (injectors, turbos, etc.).
- Proficiency in diagnosing needed repairs with computer-based systems and visual inspection.
- Class A CDL is a plus but not required.
- Aluminum welding skill is a plus.
- Strong English communication skills for understanding operational and safety guidelines.
- Clear and effective communication with colleagues and supervisors.
- Compliance with OSHA and state regulations.
- Physically able to handle heavy parts and equipment.
- Safe climbing on and off equipment.
- Daily physical demand including lifting 80 lbs frequently.
- Ability to climb, crawl, and position the body to perform required duties.
