Location:

Hawthorne, Nevada. This role supports the Hawthorne Army Depot.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required for a Secret Clearance.

• Perform all work safely with concern for self and other employees.
• Comply with environmental permits and regulations.
• Maintain good attendance and work when scheduled.
• Work in proximity to a demilitarization facility.
• Operate vehicles including automobiles, pickup trucks, and truck tractors with trailers or semi‑trailers using a turntable or pintle hook.
• Couple and uncouple trailers by manipulating fifth wheel, pintle hooks, lunettes, safety chains, brake hoses, and electrical connections.
• Follow Safety Data Sheet guidelines for handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
• Apply accepted craft or trade techniques, good housekeeping, and safe, efficient work procedures.
• Develop load data and secure cargo accordingly.
• Install protective covering as necessary.
• Mark dangerous or protruding cargo and attach chains to vehicles.
• Assist with loading and unloading of the truck, including operating MHE and locating material in the storage site, ensuring safety and security.
• Perform operator inspections of assigned equipment, document deficiencies on a designated checklist, and submit to Vehicle Maintenance for repair actions.
• Determine malfunctions, advise repairman, and prepare write‑ups.
• Service equipment by replenishing items such as coolant, fuel, oil, and air as appropriate.
• Drain air tanks, filters, pumps, and segregators.
• Perform all other related duties as needed.

• Age 21 years or older.
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 5 years of general driving experience with a clean record.
• Valid state, Class A, CDL Driver’s License with a Hazardous Materials endorsement.
• Willing and able to be trained to operate forklift/fork truck or material handling lifting devices.
• Willing to work overtime, varying hours, and/or rotating shifts.
• Maintain fitness‑for‑duty standards, including any Hawthorne Army Depot drill, contingency, or emergency requirement.
• Ability to communicate clearly during normal and crisis situations.
• Willing and able to perform routine duties safely and effectively, remaining alert to potential hazards, and wear various levels of personal protective equipment.
• Computer literate in common software applications and able to operate general office equipment.
• U.S. or naturalized citizen able to obtain/maintain Hawthorne Army Depot site access.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance. U.S. Citizenship required for a Secret Clearance.

This position is designated as a safety‑sensitive position and is subject to the requirements of the HWAD Medical Surveillance Plan and Matrix and the HWAD A&D Program. Candidates and incumbents must favorably complete a personnel security investigation, drug testing, medical exam, and respiratory screening, and must meet and maintain personnel suitability and reliability requirements established by 29 CFR and Army Regulations: AR 190-11, AR 190-13 and DOD Contractors Safety Manual 4145.26.

Starting hourly rate: $34.72 – $37.92 (per the CBA). Pay may be affected by geography, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications.
