Role Description The Field Crew role is a full-time, on-site position based in New Albany, IN. Team members assist with a variety of land surveying tasks, including setting up and operating field equipment, taking measurements, and recording data under the direction of a crew chief or licensed surveyor. Daily responsibilities may include staking property corners, collecting topographic data, and supporting boundary, construction, and utility surveys.
The role involves working outdoors in varying weather conditions, traveling to job sites, and following safety protocols and company procedures. Field Crew members collaborate closely with colleagues to ensure accurate data collection, timely completion of projects, and professional interactions with clients and the public.
Qualifications
- Ability to learn and use surveying instruments and field data collection tools (e.g., total stations, GPS equipment, levels)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately record measurements and follow instructions
- Capacity to work outdoors in various weather conditions and to perform physical tasks such as lifting, walking over uneven terrain, and standing for extended periods
- Basic math skills and spatial awareness to understand measurements, distances, and site layouts
- Reliable transportation to the New Albany, IN office and local job sites; valid driver’s license preferred
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment
- Commitment to safety practices and adherence to company policies and procedures
- High school diploma or equivalent; previous experience in construction, surveying, or related field is a plus but not required
