The Ameri Corps VISTA member will work with local education agencies (LEAs) and community partners across Indiana to build a sustainable system for enrolling eligible residents in Indiana’s 21st Century Scholars program. The VISTA will develop partnerships, create outreach materials, and design simple processes to track student progress toward scholarship requirements. Throughout the service year, the VISTA will collaborate with schools, families, and community organizations to strengthen supports that help students prepare for and apply to college, Job Corps, and certificate programs.

By improving enrollment, tracking, and postsecondary guidance, the VISTA will expand access to education and career pathways that help reduce poverty in underserved communities.

Member Duties

• Develop familiarity with 21st Century Scholars program requirements and mechanics through research and interviews.
• Engage local education associations (LEAs or school districts) to identify and establish a relationship with the program points of contact.
• Develop relationships and recommend potential partnerships to further expand on the education and employment supports for Envision Center clients.
