Massage Therapist at St. Croix Hospice
Position Overview
The Massage Therapist provides patients and their families with therapeutic touch through individualized massage therapy services that meet each patient’s unique needs. The role is performed under the direction of the Manager of Clinical Services, in collaboration with the patient’s RN Case Manager, and follows the individualized Plan of Care.

Qualifications
- Current Massage Therapist License or Bodywork Therapist License in the practicing state.
- Pass the background, consumer report, and drug test.
- Valid State Driver’s License and vehicle in good working order with insurance that meets state and organizational requirements (acceptable driving record required).
Essential Functions And Skills
- Provide direct massage therapy as directed by the Clinical Supervisor or Manager of Clinical Services, following the plan of care.
- Assess patient referral for appropriate medical indications and perform assessments to determine therapy effectiveness.
- Direct and assist patients through massage interventions to alleviate symptoms such as anxiety, depression, isolation, agitation, restlessness, sleeplessness, pain, muscle tension, circulation, stiffness, contractures, limited mobility, relaxation, and comfort.
- Use interventions including, but not limited to:
Swedish Massage, Comfort Touch, Energy Work, and compressions. - Observe and report patient responses and changes in condition to the Clinical Supervisor or Manager of Clinical Services and other pertinent staff.
- Provide education and awareness to the clinical team about therapy appropriateness or contraindications.
- Maintain necessary records—clinical notes, charting, coordination notes—integrated into the patient’s clinical record within 24–48 hours of session, and update as needed.
- Participate in interdisciplinary group and organization in‑service education programs as needed.
- Participate in quality assessment and performance improvement teams and activities as needed.
- Maintain compliance with all HIPAA regulations; treat patient information as confidential and use protected health information on a minimum necessary basis.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
