Diesel Mechanic Technician

Position Description

Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Senior Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Louisville, KY.

Hourly Pay: $34.03 per hour.

Certification Bonus of $100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700.

Quarterly Bonus:
Ryder pays up to $500 every quarter (four times per year).

Sign On Bonus: $1250 at 30 days and $1250 at 90 days.

Schedule:

Tuesday - Saturday, Second Shift 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm. Friday 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm. Saturday 7:00 am – 3:30 pm.

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Vocational or technical certification, post‑secondary degree or technical certifications (preferred)
• Basic tools required
• Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work), basic diagnostics and repairs (AC and electrical systems)
• 3+ years relevant work experience (preferred)
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
• All other certifications as required by location (required)

• Minimum 2 years experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑ and mid‑duty equipment
• Computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
• Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
• Pass Ryder drug test
• Pass DOT physical
• Pass Ryder road test
• Pass Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard and preventive maintenance
• Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems with diagnostic computer
• Complete detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
• Replace defective components as instructed
• Work unsupervised on most tasks
• Perform facility maintenance duties
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
• Utilize key functions of shop management system and electronic documentation
• Work in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (e.g., safety, DOT, MOT)
• Mentor Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
• Access and use internal and external maintenance documents
• Other support duties as required to support operations (e.g., service island support)
• Complete SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT
  220)
• Complete 2 of the OEM online diagnostic scan tool software courses within 365 days when required by fleet mix
