About the RoleThe Inventory Returns Clerk plays a critical role in managing and processing returned inventory items to ensure accurate tracking and efficient restocking or disposal. This position is responsible for verifying returned goods against purchase orders and return authorizations, maintaining detailed records, and coordinating with warehouse and inventory management teams. The role requires meticulous attention to detail to identify discrepancies, assess product conditions, and update inventory systems accordingly.
By effectively managing returns, the Inventory Returns Clerk helps minimize losses and supports overall inventory accuracy and operational efficiency. This position contributes to maintaining a seamless supply chain and customer satisfaction by ensuring returned items are handled promptly and correctly.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic computer proficiency, including experience with inventory management software or databases.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting and moving inventory items as needed.
- Effective communication skills to interact with team members and external contacts.
- Previous experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or returns processing.
- Familiarity with barcode scanning technology and warehouse management systems.
- Basic knowledge of supply chain and logistics principles.
- Ability to analyze data and generate reports related to inventory returns.
- Experience working in a fast‑paced warehouse or distribution environment.
- Receive and inspect returned inventory items for quality and accuracy against return documentation.
- Document and process returns in the inventory management system, ensuring all data is accurate and up to date.
- Coordinate with warehouse staff to properly store, restock, or dispose of returned items based on company policies.
- Communicate with suppliers, vendors, and internal departments to resolve discrepancies or issues related to returns.
- Maintain organized records of all returns and prepare reports on return trends and inventory adjustments.
The Inventory Returns Clerk utilizes attention to detail daily to verify returned items and ensure accurate data entry into inventory systems, preventing errors that could impact stock levels.
