Sr Instrument Technician

** What you will do*
* Let's do this. Let's change the world. In this role the Sr Instrument Technician provides repair and calibration services to support Utilities / Facilities assets and systems. Many of the systems are business critical to Site Operations and must be accurately maintained for compliance and assurance of supply.

+ Maintains equipment to ensure uninterrupted service to Amgen

+ Performs regular scheduled maintenance / calibration on instruments which support or monitor utility systems (ex. Environmental monitoring, Pressure, Gas detection, Scales, Process equipment, etc.)

+ Provides emergency / unscheduled repairs of equipment and plant systems

+ Assists with projects by collaborating with system engineers to design, specify, and commission new systems or upgrades

+ Responsible for compliance with applicable policies and procedures

+ Applies engineering experience to ensure that instrumentation and controls systems used in assigned facilities are accurately specified, installed, programmed, and calibrated to perform design function

+ Performs periodic assessment of field device calibration frequencies, and addressing out of tolerance (OOT), accessing instrument performance for replacement / upgrade

+ Troubleshoots analog / digital hardware related problems on process control systems and instrumentation, including distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLC's) and single loop analog controllers

+ Performs calibration procedures including training and qualifying calibration technicians

+ Effectively communicate, document, and schedule all work activities

+ Responsible for maintaining instrumentation and controls equipment in a validated environment including all GxP areas

+ Ensures that instrumentation and controls are of appropriate calibration designation and that red tagged and status coded instrumentation are addressed and repaired within allowable time constraints

+ Must succinctly communicate the status of job activities to management and applicable production support personnel

+ Other responsibilities and duties as assigned by Group Leader, Supervisor, or Senior Supervisor

+ Diagnose and resolve issues with automation systems and control equipment.

+ Provide technical support and troubleshooting for production and maintenance teams.

+ Perform system upgrades and maintenance to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

* Basic Qualifications:

* High school diploma / GED and 2 years of Facilities experience

OR

Associate degree and six months of Facilities experience

OR

Bachelors

* Preferred Qualifications:

* + Associate's degree in electronics technology

+ Knowledge of validated systems, applicable engineering standards and an ability to work with facility specific software applications is essential to the job function
