About the Role
The Safety Supervisor oversees and supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of health, safety, and environmental programs on construction or data center projects. This role provides subject‑matter expertise, guides safety practices, supervises safety staff, and ensures compliance with regulatory standards and company policies.
Responsibilities- Program Management & Compliance
- Assist in managing HSE programs to meet regulatory requirements and client expectations.
- Evaluate new and existing safety programs, identifying improvements or required changes.
- Monitor injury, illness, and incident data; support reporting and performance tracking.
- Participate in regulatory inspections and investigations; ensure compliance with federal and state requirements.
- Support Project Leadership in incident investigations and injury/illness case facilitation.
- Safety Operations & Field Oversight
- Conduct work area assessments, jobsite inspections, and audits focused on hazard recognition and safe behaviors.
- Review and support development of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- Evaluate effectiveness of safety programs through daily field walks.
- Develop and implement corrective action plans to address safety issues.
- Provide coaching and mentoring for employees demonstrating unsafe or safe behaviors.
- Training & Communication
- Develop and facilitate safety training programs and meetings.
- Deliver jobsite‑specific safety orientations.
- Serve as a resource and SME for staff, foremen, and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure effective communication of safety expectations across project teams.
- Leadership & Team Support
- Supervise safety team members, establishing work schedules and delegating tasks.
- Resolve complex problems and guide team decision‑making.
- Maintain accurate and current safety plans, procedures, and playbooks.
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs while improving safety program quality.
- High school diploma or equivalent; 2–5 years of relevant experience.
- Minimum 3 years of construction safety experience.
- OSHA 30 – Construction required.
- STS‑C or higher required within 90 days of hire.
- Experience working with union labor (preferred).
- Strong communication skills with ability to influence behaviors and drive safety culture.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
