SummaryA Medical Assistant is a multi‑skilled professional responsible for general clinical and procedural patient care under the supervision of the Practice Manager and/or center physicians/providers. The role is integral to the healthcare team, assisting in patient care management.
Job Responsibilities- Verify patient information by interviewing patients, recording medical history, and confirming the purpose of the visit.
- Enter medical history and visit information into the electronic health record (EHR).
- Escort patients to the examination room.
- Ask pertinent medical questions and enter data into the EHR.
- Prepare patients for examination by providing drapes and other materials.
- Take photographs as needed.
- Assist physicians during medical examinations and procedures.
- Schedule medical procedures.
- Instruct patients on proper medication usage.
- Phone prescriptions to various pharmacies.
- Chemistry wound dressing changes, sutures removal, and in‑office phlebotomy.
- Collect, log, and package lab specimens for transport.
- Sterilize medical instruments.
- Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
- Complete phone triage.
- Notify all patients of pathology and lab results.
- Scribe office visits.
- Administer IM, SQ, and topical medications as ordered.
- Perform and document nurse visit appointments including suture removals, UVB, excimer, patch testing, and biologic injections.
- Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures.

- High school diploma or equivalent certificate.
- Prior experience in a medical office.
- Ability to learn related center tasks and assist management and physicians.
- Self‑motivated to achieve the highest patient care and customer service standards.
- Knowledge of ICD‑10 and CPT coding (preferred).
- Familiarity with the Mod Med EMA EMR (preferred).
- Thorough understanding of HIPAA law.
- Team player.
- Standing or walking for extended periods of time.
- Ability to periodically lift objects or equipment up to 35 lbs.
- Moderate levels of pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead to prep exam rooms for patient visits as well as cleaning and sterilizing rooms after patient visits.
- Ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
- Ability to hear normal conversation levels.
- Hand dexterity.
