Position

The Paramedic provides treatment, such as first aid or life support care, to sick or injured patients. The Paramedic will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate direct and indirect clinical care to patients. The Paramedic will function as a member of the interdisciplinary team to provide patient- and community-centered care. The Paramedic acts as an advocate for the patient and their family, coordinating with respect to rights and beliefs.

The Paramedic will apply evidenced-based medical practice to manage unexpected and emergent situations and to mitigate and treat a variety of injuries and illnesses promptly and professionally.

We are currently staffing for PRN Paramedics Night and Day Shifts to provide casual coverage for one of our industrial clients in New Albany, OH. The schedule is Thursday-Sunday (6:00 pm - 6:00 am). All candidates must be able to reliably commute to the work site for scheduled shifts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate ambulance equipment and respond to radio transmissions.
  • Coordinate with the team responding to an emergency.
  • Provide emergency care in basic and advanced life support.
  • Respond to accidents and multiple traumas applying the principles of Advanced Trauma Life Support.
  • Assist with minor/routine medical cases when not responding to emergency medical cases as directed by the Physician and Clinical Team Leader.
  • Prepare patients for and safely transport them to the emergency department of a hospital or other healthcare facility.
  • Evaluate the patient’s condition on the scene and perform a preliminary diagnosis; assessment and documentation will include the patient’s vital signs, chief complaint, medical history, and prescribed medications.
  • Assist medical providers with medical procedures and treatments as allowed within licensed scope of work.
  • Attend to injuries or sudden illnesses by applying a variety of pre-hospital treatments (first aid, CPR, administering injections and oxygen, etc.) or surgical procedures.
  • Proactively and independently administer basic care, including but not limited to inserting catheters with blood specimen collection, urine collection and EKGs, visual acuity, basic wound care, changing bandages or administering intravenous medications.
  • Use tech equipment and tools to stabilize patients or provide immediate treatment.
  • Write and submit accurate reports on incidents.
  • Keep abreast of new treatments and medical procedures through continuous training.
  • Conduct drug and alcohol testing for the site.
Required Skills and Knowledge
  • Completion of an accredited paramedic program
Required Work Experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years of paramedic experience
  • Experience in a clinic setting (urgent care, emergency room, etc.)
  • Occupational Medicine experience required
  • Drug and alcohol testing experience (preferred)
Required Qualifications
  • Paramedic Ohio State Certification and/or National Registry
  • ACLS
  • BLS
  • CPR/AED
Working Demands and Physical Conditions

Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time. May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 15 lbs.

Other Special Qualifications
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English to effectively communicate.
